1823 March 25th George Jarvis is born at Harlow, Essex, England

1829 December 29 Ann Prior is born at Stepney, Middlesex, London England

1840 Summer 1840 at age 17 was a apprentice on the ship called the Diadem

1842 Enlisted in the Royal Navy under Queen Victoria.

1846 October 19, George Jarvis and Ann Prior are married at a Parish Church at Savior, Southwark, Surrey, England

1847 June 16 George Fredrick Jarvis is born at Stepney, Middlesex, London, England

1848 October 27, Ann Catherine Jarvis is born at Stepney, Middlesex, London, England

1848 December 25, George and Ann Jarvis our Baptized in the Thames river by Elder Bradshaw

1850 October 20, Brigham Young Jarvis is born at Stepney, Middlesex, London, England

1850 George and Ann Jarvis became members of the Woolwich Branch of the Church.

1853 January 3rd Amelia Jarvis is born at Poplar, Middlesex, England.

1855 April 18th Samuel Walter Jarvis is born at Poplar, Middlesex, England.

1855 October 3rd Charles Godfrey Defriez Jarvis is born at Bethnal Green, Middlesex, England. Later George & Ann Prior Jarvis would adopt him.

1856 George & Ann moved and became members of the Poplar Branch, where George was ordained an Elder.


Voyage over the Atlantic Ocean

1857 March 28th With 817 other immigrants under the direction of Elder James Park, George & Ann Jarvis started the 23-day voyage from Liverpool, England to Boston, USA aboard the ship George Washington. Ann states in her Journal that Samuel Walter had his second birthday aboard the ship.

1857 April 20th arrived in Boston harbor.


Boston Period

1857 November 28th Margaret Jarvis is born at Boston, Suffolk, MA

1859 March 25th Elizabeth Frances Jarvis is born at Boston, Suffolk, MA

1859 March 25th George, Ann and family living in Ashland, Suffolk, MA which is near Boston.

1859 July 14th Elizabeth Frances Jarvis died at Boston, Suffolk, MA


Trek on the pioneer trail

1860 Apostle George Q. Cannon visited George and Ann Prior in Boston. Brother Cannon insisted that George with his family begin the journey for Utah. He said “George you may loose your wife on the way, but you will surely loose her if you stay here.” They first travel to New York and then by rail to St. Joseph, Missouri. Boarded a steamboat for Omaha, Nebraska.

1860 August 30th arrived in the Salt Lake Valley, Utah Territory

1860 October 14th Heber Jarvis is born at Salt Lake City, Utah Territory.

1861 April 27th George and Ann are sealed in the Endowment House in Salt Lake City, Utah Territory.

St. George Period

1861 October George volunteers while at General Conference to be among the first pioneers to settle Dixie or St. George, Utah Southern Territory.

1861 December 5th Arrived in Dixie from Salt Lake City, Utah Territory.

1863 March 21st Emeline Jarvis is born at St. George, Utah Southern Territory.

1866 April 21st Josephine Victoria Jarvis is born at St. George, Utah Southern Territory.

1869 September 15th Amelia Jarvis and William Badcock Webb are married in the Endowment House at Salt Lake City, Utah Territory.

1870 May 3rd Ann Catherine Jarvis and David Milne are married Endowment House at Salt Lake City, Utah Territory.

1871 October 4th Thomas William Jarvis is born at St. George, Utah Southern Territory.

1871 October 21st George F. and Eleanor Cannon Woodbury (1st wife) are married in the Endowment House at Salt Lake City, Utah Territory.

1871 November George Jarvis begins work on the St. George Temple at St. George, Utah Southern Territory.

1871 George Frederick Jarvis and Roseinia (Rose) Sylvester (2nd wife) are married in St. George, Utah Southern Territory and later Sealed in the St. George Temple 11 January 1877.

1877 January 11th Brigham Young Jarvis and Mary Forsyth are married in the St. George Temple, Utah Southern Territory.

1877 April 6, President Daniel H. Wells at St. George, Utah Southern Territory, dedicates St. George Temple.

1877 December 4th Samuel Walter Jarvis and Frances Godfrey De Friez (1st wife) are married in the St. George Temple, Utah Southern Territory.

1878 Mary Webb, widow, is sealed to George Jarvis as a plural wife in the St. George Temple, Utah Southern Territory.

1878 Charles Godfrey Defrie Jarvis and Margaret Jarvis are married in the St. George Temple, Utah Southern Territory.

1881 January 26th Emmaline Jarvis and Thomas Punter Cottam are married in the St. George Temple, Utah Southern Territory.

1881 April 5, Thomas William or Willie seven years and six moths old killed by lightning on the tabernacle steps, St. George, Utah Southern Territory.

1882 March Brother Snow advised George & Ann to take a trip to Arizona. Heber & Josephine went with them to visit Charles Godfrey Defriez Jarvis in St. Johns, Arizona Territory.

1883 December 12th Heber Jarvis and Susan Janet Smith are married in the St. George Temple, Utah Southern Territory.

1883 Heber Jarvis & Susan Janet Smith lived with George and Ann through the winter, St. George, Utah Southern Territory.

1882 Heber & Susan Janet Smith Jarvis return to the Arizona Territory

1895 Josephine Victoria Jarvis and George Edmond Miles are married in the St. George Temple, Utah Southern Territory.

1896 January 4, 1896 Utah becomes the 45th state in the Union and Heber Manning Wells becomes the first governor.

1902 George Jarvis was ordained as a Patriarch, St. George, Utah

1902 Samuel Walter Jarvis and Pearley Dean Taylor (2nd wife) are married at Colonia Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico and later Sealed in the St. George Temple 28th August 1907.

1912 Arizona becomes the 48th state in the Union and Hunt becomes the first governor.

1913 January 10, George Jarvis died before his 90th birthday, St. George, Utah

1913 January 14, Ann Prior died four days later at age 84, St. George, Utah
